Roles of SBG Committee

SBG Chair

Role

The Chair is the groups figurehead and spokesperson.

Responsibilities

  1. Chair all SBG meetings
  2. Produce the annual Chairs report for the AGM
  3. Take the lead on SBG projects.
Joint responsibilities (with other committee members)
  • Administrate SBG Facebook group, responding on groups behalf where needed.
  • Signatory to the group’s bank and Paypal accounts.

SBG SECRETARY

Role

The SBG secretary is the public face of SBG, and its organising force.

Responsibilities

  1. Organise the annual AGM and at least one annual committee meeting; meeting venues, notices, agendas, refreshments, minutes etc.
  2. Respond to all emails (excluding membership and finance), that are sent to the bat group email address, and forward, or deal with them accordingly.
  3. Manage communication within the SBG committee.
  4. Maintain, update and expand the SBG website using WordPress.
  5. Send out regular email newsletters to all current members. Publish these as posts to SBG website.
  6. Produce, manage and publish SBG events programme and coordinate event organisation.

SBG Treasurer and Membership Secretary

Role

The SBG Treasurer and Membership Secretary manages all matters relating to group finance and membership.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain ongoing SBG accounts and manage SBG bank and Paypal accounts.
  2. Produce annual accounts summary for AGM, and for review by Head of SWT Finance.
  3. Respond to all membership applications, and update membership list Excel list.
  4. Maintain member contacts, and up-to-date email distribution lists of members in the SBG Gmail account.
  5. Manage renewal of members.
  6. Pay all SBG bills including for website, and BCT partner group donation.
  7. Be responsible for SBG owned kit, and maintain its inventory.

National Bat Monitoring Programme Champion

The NBPM Champion promotes this essential monitoring within the group. Click here for full role guidelines. In summary:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide information about the NBMP to group members
  2. Distribute details of Somerset sites in need of new volunteers
  3. Direct volunteers to online training resources, or
  4. Organise informal training session(s) for group members
  5. Organise for new volunteers to accompany experienced volunteers on surveys
  6. Remind volunteers to return data
