Mendip Hills 2007 to 12

The Mendip Hills Big Bat Survey was organised collaboratively by the Somerset Bat Group, Somerset Wildlife Trust and the Somerset Environmental Records Centre, and ran for 6 years from 2007 to 2012.

The results are below:

The big bat survey was initiated as part of the Somerset Wildlife Trust’s work within the Mendip Hills Living Landscape, which aims to restore, recreate and link up islands of wildlife habitat within the diverse working countryside. By surveying for important indicator species such as bats, we can improve our knowledge of their distribution and habitat usage in Mendip, and use of landscape features which connect important habitats.

A paper about the survey was published in Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society journal – ECOLOGY IN SOMERSET 2013
