On 18th March the BCT sent this update:
“We were planning to open the advanced bookings for the National Bat Conference today but we have had to postpone this due to the unprecedented amount of work for the conference team resulting from the corona virus outbreak.
Bookings will now open one week later on 27 March and you will still have the opportunity to book 48 hours in advance of everyone else.
The National Bat Conference 2020 is still planned to take place 4-6 September 2020 at the University of Warwick and you can check this page for more information.”
On 6th March 2020, the BCT sent the group the following:
“As a valued Bat Conservation Trust (group) supporter we would like to let you know that bookings for the National Bat Conference 2020 will open to the public on Friday 20 March, however we would like to offer you the opportunity to book your place 48 hours ahead of public bookings opening as we think our keynote speaker is going to be very popular this year.
We are very excited to announce that this year’s keynote speaker is Dr Rodrigo Medellín (aka the Bat Man of Mexico, featured in the BBC2 documentary narrated by David Attenborough – See the trailer for this program – Longer except)
Rodrigo has dedicated his life to the study and conservation of mammals in Mexico and other countries since he was 12 years old. He is Senior Professor at the Institute of Ecology, UNAM, and has directed over 50 theses and dissertations and has produced over 200 publications on bats, jaguars, conservation issues, and more. He has received several awards such as Mexico´s National Conservation Award 2004, Rolex Award for Enterprise 2009, the Whitley Fund for Nature Gold Award 2012, and others. You can read a full biography here and an interview with Rodrigo in Bat News here.
We are anticipating that spaces for the National Bat Conference will go quickly and that this event may sell out. Therefore if you would like to be added to the Advance Booking List, please subscribe to the list and you will be sent details of how to book 48 hours early on Wednesday 18 March.
