Bats on the telly and latest Bat Group Bulletin – 30Oct20

If anyone missed it, the BBC2 program this week “Inside the Bat Cave” comes highly recommended. It is repeated Halloween night (31st) at 7PM on BBC4, or is on iPlayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000nx12 Featuring the work Colin Morris and VWT have done at Bryanston in Dorset, it includes superb thermal imaging footage of Greater Horseshoes. Do enjoy the researcher deploying a bare AudioMoth by applying PVC tape over the microphone 😦

Also recommended is the BatChat podcast from the BCT. A new episode is now available and features the BCT president Chris Packham http://batchat.buzzsprout.com/. Recorded earlier this year during lockdown, it is still well worth a listen. You can still catch up with Season 1, including the bonus COVID-19 episode, also on the above link

The latest Bat group Bulletin from the BCT is now out as below. This includes detailed information on the approach to Hibernation roost surveys in this time of Covid-19.

Lastly we hope you are keeping safe and well in these difficult times. We have not changed the Bat Groups position on our activities from that posted in July, and you can find this here.
